Jenna Roche (Braintree, Mass.) netted a career-high 20 points to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team to a 73-69 road victory over Adelphi University on Saturday afternoon at the Center for Recreation and Sport.

KEY MOMENTS
- Four different scorers contributed, as Southern New Hampshire began the game with nine straight points over the opening 2:58, as part of a 16-4 run, which was capped with a Timberlake 3-pointer with 3:46 left in the first quarter. Knight's four points led the way during the larger stretch, with six different Penmen scoring at least two points. SNHU held an 18-9 advantage at the end of one.
- Adelphi ripped off a 14-2 run over the opening 4:38 of the second quarter to grab a 23-20 lead. The teams would go into the break tied, 29-29.
- Neither team would go ahead by more than four points in the third stanza and it was the Panthers coming away with a 45-42 edge heading to the final frame.
- Adelphi scored five straight in the first 95 seconds of the fourth quarter to expand its lead to 50-42. It was a six-point game more than two minutes later when a Knight layup sparked a 6-0 burst that knotted the game at 54-all with 4:26 to play.
- The Panthers held a 60-58 lead with 2:44 remaining when Timberlake drilled a 3 that gave SNHU the lead for good at 61-60. The teams twice traded buckets, leaving the score at 65-64 with 1:09 on the clock. Roche would then seal the win, going 8-for-10 at the stripe over the final 38 seconds to hold off the hosts.

- Senior Ariana Koivisto (Pomfret, Conn.) tallied five points (2-7 FG, 1-2 3-FG), five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
- Freshman Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) posted four points (2-3 FG) and three boards.
- Adelphi outshot Southern New Hampshire, 40 percent (24-60) to 38.4 percent (28-73), including 41.2 percent (7-17) to 28.6 percent (4-14) from downtown.
- SNHU held a 76.5 percent (13-17) to 66.7 percent (14-21) advantage from the stripe.
- The Penmen captured the paint (44-30), scored more points off turnovers (22-14), second chance points (12-7) and fast break points (20-10), received more scoring from their bench (26-14) and featured a better assist-to-turnover ratio (13/11-12/20). The Panthers won the glass (45-41).
NOTES
- After winning 10-in-a-row, Southern New Hampshire has alternated losses and wins for the last six games. The Penmen are all alone in third place in the NE10 standings, a half-game back of second-place Le Moyne College and a full game behind first-place Assumption University.
- The all-time series is now tied, 8-8, after SNHU won its second straight against Adelphi, which had captured eight of nine against the Penmen before this short losing skid. The win also snaps a five-game losing streak for Southern New Hampshire in Garden City, beating the Panthers on their home floor for the first time since Jan. 21, 2012 (81-74). SNHU, which also defeated Adelphi at home back on Nov. 30 (79-74), sweeps the regular-season series in the first year the teams have ever met twice during the regular season.
- Roche's previous career high was 17 points in a home win against the University of Bridgeport on Dec. 1, 2019.
- Knight has scored in double figures in all 18 contests she has played in this season, while Timberlake has reached 10-plus points in 17 of 20.
- SNHU is 36-12 (.750) since the start of the 2021-22 season.

- The Penmen are back in action Tuesday, Feb. 7 (5:30 p.m.) when they head west to take on in-state rival Franklin Pierce University.
- The next home game for SNHU will be Saturday, Feb. 11 (1:30 p.m.) when the Penmen host their annual Pink Day game against the College of Saint Rose.
