Sophomore Katelyn Nichols (Manchester, N.H.) clinched the match with her win at No. 5 singles, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team posted a 6-1 win against Millsaps College on Tuesday evening at the USTA Tennis Center.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Nichols defeated Alexis Oliver, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5 singles to make it 4-0. She also combined with graduate student Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) for a 6-1 triumph over Madison Williams and Mary Dabadie at No. 2 doubles.
- Grad student Verena Weindl (Munich, Germany) breezed past Dabadie, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 3 singles. She also teamed with junior Eleonora Gugliemetti (Novara, Italy) to shut out Camille Fremaux and Kiana Everhart, 6-0, at No. 1 doubles.
- Senior Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) blanked Everhart, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles.
- Freshman Alina Kupfer (Munich, Germany) recorded a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Williams at No. 2 singles.
- Senior Guntra Upeniece (Riga, Latvia) registered a 7-5, 6-2 win against Mackenzie Vordick at No. 4 singles.
- Senior Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) and grad student Amelie Proulx (Quebec, Canada) clinched the doubles point by doubling up Oliver and Vordick, 6-3, at No. 3.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire is 14-0 for the first time in program history.
- This was the first meeting between the two schools.
- Kupfer is now a perfect 13-0 at No. 2 singles.
