Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) both won their singles matches, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team closed its Florida trip with a 6-1 loss to Division I Fordham University on Thursday at the USTA National Campus.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Berling took down Quinn Fender at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
- Den Hartog was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 2 singles against Nichola Kanazirev. He also teamed with junior Sam Goddard (Amherst, N.H.) to even doubles at 1-1 with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 versus Dhillon Virdee-Oakley and Sampras Rakotondrainibe.
- Graduate student Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) endured a battle at No. 3 singles against Virdee-Oakley, eventually falling, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 6-7 (4-7).
- Sophomore Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) also went three sets with Toi Kobayashi at No. 4 singles, dropping a 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 0-6 decision.
- Graduate student Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, The Netherlands) also suffered a three-set defeat to Giorgio Soemarno at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 5-7, 3-6.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has lost two straight twice in the same season for the first time since 2017-18.
- This marked the first meeting between the two programs.
