KEY MOMENTS – GAME 1
- Southern New Hampshire took advantage of three first-inning walks to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Junior Nick Schwartz (Massapequa, N.Y.) plated a pair with a triple to right, while an RBI groundout from Caraher closed the first-inning scoring.
- Goldey-Beacom chipped away with a pair of unearned runs in the second and then tied it with a two-out RBI double in the fifth.
- The score stayed that way until the top of the ninth when the Penmen had the bases loaded with two out. A wild pitch scored Rivera, who singled to center, went to second on a sacrifice bunt from redshirt-junior Cristian Mercedes (Providence, R.I.) and moved to third on a Schwartz walk.
- The Lightning loaded the bases with two outs against Praml in the ninth, but he induced a groundout to second to end it.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME 1
- Vargas Segura went 2-for-3 with a walk.
- Rivera was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored a run.
- Schwartz (two RBI, run, two walks) and junior Mike LaRocca (Vero Beach, Fla.; run, two walks) were both 1-for-3.
- Burgos finished 1-for-4.
- Caraher was 1-for-5 with an RBI.
KEY MOMENTS – GAME 2
- After Goldey-Beacom took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI groundout, Vargas Segura tied it in the second with a two-out solo shot.
- GBC hung a six spot in the fourth, capitalizing on three errors, a walk and a wild pitch to push across five unearned runs that made it 7-1.
- The Penmen grabbed one back in the sixth when Burgos doubled down the left field line and later scored on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Gabe Passey (Moses Lake, Wash.).
- SNHU attempted to rally in the seventh, with Rivera swatting a leadoff homer and freshman Jake Pisano (Hamden, Conn.) reaching on a two-out error by the shortstop to let Caraher, who walked, score. That brought the tying run to the plate, but a strikeout would end it.
