Junior Shelby Cole (Gilford, N.H.) buried a career-high eight goals to help lead the 25th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team to an 18-9 victory against Franklin Pierce University on Friday afternoon at Sodexo Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern New Hampshire scored the first five goals of the game over the opening 8:56. Senior Skylar Renaud (E. Waterboro, Maine) and Cole scored twice during the stretch, graduate student Katie Crowther (Wrentham, Mass.) dished a pair of helpers, and DeLucia registered a goal and an assist. Franklin Pierce responded with three straight to trim its deficit to 5-3 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Graziano set up Cole twice, before finding the back of the net on her own to stretch the SNHU lead to 8-3 just 3:20 into the second quarter. After the Ravens scored back-to-back goals, the Penmen scored the final three of the half to bring an 11-5 advantage into the break. Cole had a goal and an assist during the run.
  • FPU scored four of the next seven goals to pull within 14-9 with 10:05 remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Penmen scored four-in-a-row to end the game, with Cole striking twice to put it away.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Junior goalkeeper Megan Petko (Monroe, N.Y.) stopped six of the 12 shots she faced over the opening 36:15, while freshman Megan Mollman (Chester, Md.) made a pair of saves over the final 23:45.
  • Franklin Pierce goalie Erin Blake made five saves in the opening half, while Saige Paradise turned aside five shots in the second half.
  • Renaud and fellow senior Courtney Cronin (Woburn, Mass.) each scored two goals.
  • Crowther recorded two assists.
  • Sophomore Rachel McLaughlin (Woburn, Mass.) registered a goal and an assist.
  • SNHU outshot Franklin Pierce, 34-24, including 8-2 in the fourth quarter.
  • The Penmen also owned a 20-11 advantage in draw controls and 22-14 margin in ground balls.
  • Southern New Hampshire went 1-for-1 on its free-position shots, while FPU was 1-for-3.
  • SNHU went 20-for-22 on clear attempts, with FPU going 15-for-20.
NOTES
  • SNHU, which is ranked 25th in the latest ILWomen/Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Poll, is 6-1 for the first time in program history.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series with Franklin Pierce, 16-4, despite the teams now splitting the previous six meetings.
  • The Penmen are outscoring their seven opponents this season, 119-56.
