Senior Angelina Graziano (Riverhead, N.Y.) found the back of the net a career-best seven times to lead the 24th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team to a 23-8 victory against American International College on Wednesday evening at Abdow Field

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern New Hampshire scored the game's first three goals over the opening 5:37, but American Int'l was within 4-3 until Renaud scored with 1:11 on the clock to give the Penmen a 5-3 lead after one.
  • Graziano bookended the second quarter with goals and scored the first of four in the middle of the frame for SNHU, which captured the stanza, 6-2, and led, 11-5, at the break.
  • Graziano opened the second-half scoring, as the Penmen scored five-in-a-row to grab a 16-5 advantage with 9:05 remaining in the third quarter. Cole would record the final two strikes in the last 3:38 to extend the SNHU lead to 18-6 after three.
  • The Penmen notched the last three goals over the final 4:43, with sophomore Katya Markovich (Hopkinton, Mass.) registering two goals and an assist.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Freshman goalkeeper Megan Mollman (Chester, Md.) turned away four of the nine shots she faced in the opening half. Junior Megan Petko (Monroe, N.Y.) came on in relief of Mollman and made one save in the second half.
  • AIC goalie Marissa Long made nine saves.
  • Markovich finished with the two goals and one assist.
  • Senior Courtney Cronin (Woburn, Mass.) scored twice.
  • Junior Alexis DeLucia (Uncasville, Conn.) tallied a goal and an assist and won eight draw controls.
  • Graduate students Katie Crowther (Wrentham, Mass.) and Catherine Derhak (Londonderry, N.H.) each dished a pair of assists.
  • SNHU outshot American Int'l, 39-13, including 9-2 in the third quarter.
  • The Penmen owned a 22-13 advantage in draw controls, as well as a 10-6 edge in ground balls.
  • AIC went 2-for-4 on its free-position shots, while SNHU was 2-for-5.
  • SNHU was 10-for-11 on clear attempts, with AIC going 12-for-16.
  • The Yellow Jackets had 25 of the game's 26 turnovers.
NOTES
  • SNHU, which is ranked 24th in the latest ILWomen/Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Poll, has won four of seven, including two-in-a-row.
  • The 23 goals are the most in a game for the Penmen since Feb. 29, 2020 when they defeated Dominican (N.Y.) University, 24-6.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series with AIC, 15-3. The Penmen have captured 15 of the last 16, including four straight.
  • Graziano leads the NE10 in goals (45) and points (67).
  • The Penmen are outscoring their 12 opponents this season, 184-122.
