Shelby Cole Reaches 100th Career Goal, but #24 Women's Lacrosse Falls To New Haven

Penmen Can't Hold Off Late Charge in 22-18 Loss

Junior Shelby Cole (Gilford, N.H.) scored five goals, including the 100th of her career, but #24 SNHU Women's Lacrosse fell to #22 New Haven 22-18 in a Northeast-10 Conference game on Sunday at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cole tallied her 100th career goal just 46 seconds into the game to put the Penmen up 1-0.
  • SNHU led 6-4 after the first quarter on a man-up goal by Renaud with two seconds left.
  • The teams battled through a 5-5 second quarter  after Graziano scored a pair in the period.
  • Goals by Graziano and Cole put the Penmen up 13-9 with 12:46 to play in the third, but New Haven went on a 6-1 run to take the lead for the first time at 15-14.
  • Cole tied the game at 16-16 with her fourth goal of the game, but after the Chargers scored two, the Penmen could not get back to even.

  • New Haven outshot the Penmen 37-32.
  • DeLucia led SNHU with nine draw controls, and the Penmen had a 23-21 advantage for the game on draw controls.
  • The Penmen were 10-for-13 on clear attempts, and the Chargers were 13-13.
  • New Haven had a 16-14 advantage on ground balls.  
  • Southern New Hampshire converted all four of their free position shots while New Haven went 2-5.

  • SNHU falls to 3-12 all-time against the Chargers.
