Men's Tennis Earns Share of NE10 Regular-Season Title with 7-0 Blanking of Bentley

Penmen claim their sixth NE10 regular-season crown

Sophomore Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) won at No. 4 singles to give the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team its fourth point, as it defeated Bentley University, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts to clinch a share of the NE10 Regular-Season Championship.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Nadeau beat Nikolai Pran, 6-2, 6-2, and also teamed with junior Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) at No. 2 doubles for a 7-6 (8-6) win against Gabe Horwitz and Pran.
  • Den Hartog was a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 winner against Jordan Soifer at No. 1 singles.
  • Sophomore Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway) was a 6-2, 6-4 victor at No. 2 singles versus Max Bonte.
  • Graduate student Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) made easy work of Horwitz, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3 singles.
  • Freshman Phillipp Roeder (Augsburg, Germany) rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 triumph against Tawan Rattaseri at No. 5 singles. He and grad student Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, The Netherlands) clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 3 over Rattaseri and Diego Ramos.
  • Ouwehan downed Ramos, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire has won six-in-a-row.
  • It is SNHU's sixth NE10 Regular-Season Championship and first since 2018-19.
  • The Penmen finish in a three-way tie for first place in the NE10 standings with Le Moyne College and Adelphi University. After sorting out tiebreakers, SNHU earns the No. 3 seed and will travel to second-seeded Adelphi on Thursday, April 20 (1 p.m.) for an NE10 Championship semifinal match.
  • Bentley leads the all-time series with SNHU, 15-14, but the Penmen have won 14 of the last 15 meetings, including 11 straight. Bentley's last win in the series came at SNHU on April 15, 2015 (6-3). SNHU has also won seven-in-a-row at home versus the Falcons.

  • The Penmen wrap up their regular season Monday, April 17 (1 p.m.) when they play host to Daemen University at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
