Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) secured the win with a No. 3 singles victory, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team closed the regular season by defeating Daemen University, 7-0, in non-conference action Monday at the YMCA Allard Center.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Torres claimed a 6-2, 7-5 victory against Phillip Vance at No. 3 singles. He also teamed with sophomore Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway) for a 6-1 defeat of Alex Lumanog and Luis de Vuyst at No. 1 doubles.
- Berling beat Lumanog, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 1 singles.
- Junior Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) made quick work of de Vuyst, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. He and sophomore Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Zachary LaPlante and Vance at the second flight.
- Nadeau was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 4 singles versus Rohan Chitanand.
- Freshman Phillipp Roeder (Augsburg, Germany) rallied for a 6-7 (2-7), 6-1, 10-6 victory against LaPlante at No. 5 singles. He and grad student Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, The Netherlands) doubled up Chitanand and Jayven Williamson, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles.
- Ouwehan blanked Williams, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has won seven-in-a-row.
- SNHU improves to 4-0 all-time against Daemen.
