Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) came out on top in three sets to clinch a 4-1 victory for the third-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team against second-seeded Adelphi University at the Adelphi Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- With the Penmen in front, 3-1, Den Hartgog pulled out a 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles against Marko Jovanovic to send SNHU to the title match.
- Graduate student Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) made it 2-0 with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles versus Gabriel Balestero. He and sophomore Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway) combined at No. 1 doubles for a 6-1 triumph over Hugo Munoz Reinoso and Balestero.
- Berling gave the Penmen a 3-0 lead with a 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 2 singles against Munoz Reinoso.
- Freshman Phillipp Roeder (Augsburg, Germany) and grad student Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, The Netherlands) clinched the doubles point at No. 3, doubling up Jovanovic and Reece Farrow, 6-3.
NOTES
- Sophomore Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) was outlasted by Salomon Arce Lema, 6-4, 2-6, 5-7, at No. 4 singles.
- Southern New Hampshire has won eight-in-a-row.
- The Penmen, who have won five NE10 titles (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), reach the title match for the ninth time, including the second straight year. They suffered a 4-3 loss at Le Moyne in last season's championship match.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with the Panthers, 11-4. The Penmen have won eight of the last nine following a 5-2 regular-season loss at Adelphi back on March 26.

- The third-seeded Penmen will try for their sixth NE10 title when they travel to top-seeded Le Moyne College on Sunday (April 23) at 1 p.m.
