HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After Assumption scored just 1:04 into the game, Southern New Hampshire erupted for five straight to open a 5-1 advantage with 7:51 left in the first quarter. Cronin scored twice during the run, while Renaud and junior Skylar Pietz (Dudley, Mass.) each tallied a goal and an assist.
  • The Greyhounds responded with a 10-3 blitz that spanned into the third quarter, where it led, 12-8, 4:32 into the second half. Cole scored back-to-back goals to stop the bleeding and pull the Penmen within 12-10 with 5:57 left in the third.
  • It was 14-11 more than four minutes into the final frame when SNHU recorded five straight goals to go in front, 16-14 with 3:19 on the clock. Renaud found the back of the net three times, Graziano earned her milestone 100th career goal and Cole gathered a goal and an assist during the stretch.
  • Assumption, however, would score at the 2:27 mark and then was awarded a questionable free-position opportunity with 0.7 seconds on the clock and converted to force overtime.
  • In the extra session, the Greyhounds were handed possibly a more questionable free position and again scored with just 52 seconds left to steal the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Freshman goalkeeper Megan Mollman (Chester, Md.) made three saves on nine shots over the opening 18:26 of the contest. Junior Megan Petko (Monroe, N.Y.) made three saves over the final 46:42.

  • The Penmen owned a 23-13 advantage in draw controls, while the Greyhounds held a 16-14 edge in ground balls.
  • Assumption was a perfect 15-for-15 on its clear attempts, while SNHU went 9-for-10.
  • The Penmen were 2-for-2 on their free-position attempts, with the Greyhounds going 2-for-5.
  • SNHU had 11 of the game's 20 turnovers.
NOTES
  • SNHU, which is ranked 24th in the latest ILWomen/Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Poll, has still won three of its last five.
  • Southern New Hampshire currently holds the eighth and final NE10 postseason spot. It would officially be in with a win in the regular-season finale against Le Moyne College, but can still make it with a loss and at least one Southern Connecticut State University loss.
  • This marks the first overtime contest for the Penmen since April 5 of last season – a 15-14 victory at Bentley University – and the first OT loss since April 22, 2017 at American International College (16-15).
  • SNHU holds an 11-10 edge in the all-time series with Assumption, which has now won seven-in-a-row against the Penmen.
  • Graziano becomes the third Penmen to score their 100th career goal this season, joining Renaud and Cole.
  • Seniors Renaud, Graziano, Cronin, Jenn Curran (Arlington, Mass.), Jocelyn Theriault (Litchfield, N.H.), Sydney Todd (Pelham, N.H.) and Marissa DeLucia (Topsfield, Mass.), as well as graduate students Crowther, Catie Derhak (Londonderry, N.H.) and Maddie Peredna (Derry, N.H.), were all honored in a ceremony prior to the game.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen wrap up the regular season Saturday, April 29 (11 a.m.) when they take on Le Moyne.
