Men's Lacrosse Sees Season End With Loss In NE10 Championship at #5 Adelphi

Krutz Scores Twice and Assists On Two Goals in 21-4 Loss Saturday

Score: #3 seed Adelphi University 21, #6 seed Southern New Hampshire University 4

Senior Tim Krutz (Cheshire, Conn.) scored two goals and added assists on two others, but SNHU fell 21-4 at #5 Adelphi in the first round of the Northeast-10 Championship on Saturday in Garden City, N.Y.  The Penmen finish the season at 6-6.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Krutz- 2 goals, 2 assists, 1 ground ball, 1 caused turnover
  • Graduate student Tristan Pietz (Dudley, Mass.) – goal, two ground balls
  • Junior Jack Terrones (Anaheim, Calif.) - goal
  • Senior Ryan Auger (Hampstead, N.H.) – assist
  • Junion Kyle Proulx (Londonderry, N.H.) – 3 caused turnovers, 2 ground balls
KEY MOMENTS
  • Adelphi scored two quick goals and never trailed in the game. 
  • The Penmen trailed 8-3 at the end of the first quarter with two goals by Krutz, who also assisted on a goal by Terrones.
  • SNHU did not tally again until 10:02 to play in the fourth quarter when Pietz scored his 17th of the season from Krutz.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Adelphi had a 16-13 advantage on face offs and a 35-27 edge on ground balls.
  • SNHU was successful on 14 of 19 clears, but also had 21 turnovers for the game.  The Panthers were 22-23 on its clears and had 18 turnovers.
  • The Penmen were 0-for-2 in man-up situations while Adelphi did not have any opportunities.
  • Junior Ronan DePaul (Elkton, Md.) had 6 saves for the Penmen.  Sophomore Patrick Cassidy (Chelmsford, Mass.) played the fourth quarter.
  • Kyle Lewis (4 goals) and Eamon Hall (3 goals, 2 assists) led the Panthers.
NOTES
  • Adelphi improves to 14-0 all-time against the Penmen.
  • Auger led SNHU with 50 points on 23 goals and 27 assists.
  • Valentine also scored 23 goals, finishing his career with 105 goals and 35 assists for 140 points.  He ranks 8th in career goals and 11th in career points.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The season is over for the Penmen.
  • #3 seed Adelphi will travel to #2 seed Bentley University in the NE10 Semifinals on Wednesday night.  #1 Le Moyne College will host #5 Saint Anselm in the other semifinal.
