Leine McKechnie (Passadumkeag, Maine) delivered when the Penmen needed it most, pitching a complete game three-hitter in a 9-1 win over New Haven Saturday. New Haven won the opener 3-2.

KEY MOMENTS -GAME 1
- The Penmen took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
- Junior Bella Dickinson (Scarborough, Maine) singled, advancing to third when senior Bryn Garczynski (Norwood, Mass.) reached on an error. Sophomore Alyssa DiMauro (Chester, N.H.) drove in the run with a ground out.
- New Haven took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second when Selena Aponte homered after a single by Ashley Veillette.
- Aponte also drove in a run with a single in the fourth inning to make it 3-1.
- Dickinson drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Penmen could not get closer than 3-2.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME 1
- Aponte pitched a complete game for the Chargers, allowing six hits and one earned run. She walked four and struck out three.
- Hammond went the first six innings in the circle for SNHU, falling to 6-8.
KEY MOMENTS -GAME 2
- McKechnie walked the first two batters in the game, but did not give up a hit until the fourth inning.
- The Penmen scored three in the first inning on an RBI single by DiMauro, a single by Gifford, and another run scored on an error on a single by Resetar.
- DiMauro reached on an error in the second inning, allowing senior Abi Gray (Litchfield, N.H.), who had walked, to score to make it 4-1.
- Resetar and Lineman homered in the sixth to extend the lead to 7-1.
- The Penmen earned the walk-off in the sixth with a pair of runs. Gifford delivered the game clincher with her second single of the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – GAME 2
- McKechnie improved to 9-10, allowing three hits and one run. She walked two and struck out two.
- Resetar's home run was the first of her career.
- Lineman's two-run shot give her three homers on the season.
NOTES
- The Penmen, at 12-12, finish in a tie for seventh place in the Northeast 10 with Le Moyne and New Haven.
- SNHU is 17-33 all-time against New Haven but have won six of the last 8.
- The Penmen went 7-3 over the final ten games of the season. Each of the losses was by one run.
- Southern New Hampshire hit two homers in a game for the third time this season.
- The Penmen did not commit an error in the doubleheader.
- An SNHU appearance in the Northeast-10 Championship would be a 12th straight for the program
