Men's Tennis Nets Third Straight Win with 5-2 Victory at Franklin Pierce

Junior Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) finished off the match with a No. 1 singles win, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team posted a 5-2 win against Franklin Pierce University on Thursday afternoon at the FPU Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Den Hartog took care of Joe Herin, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 singles to make it 4-0 in favor of the Penmen. He also teamed with sophomore Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) to double up Alejandro Ortiz and Paul McLellan, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles.
  • Sophomore Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway) recorded the same 6-3, 6-3 score at No. 2 singles in a win over Preston Gordon. Berling combined with graduate student Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) for a 6-3 triumph against Orlando Guerrero and Joshua Arnold at No. 1 doubles to clinch the doubles point.
  • Torres defeated Nkrumah Patrick, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 3 singles.
  • Graduate student Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, The Netherlands) was a 6-3, 6-4 winner versus Guerrero at No. 5 singles.
NOTES
  • Sophomore Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) suffered a 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-10 loss to Ortiz at No. 4 singles.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series with FPU, 17-6, with the Penmen winning three of the last five.
  • Den Hartog improves to 3-0 on the season at the top flight.

  • The Penmen are back in action Saturday (April 8) at 11 a.m. when they take on Post University.
