Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway) helped capture the doubles point and then cemented the victory with a No. 1 singles win, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team registered a 5-2 triumph over Post University on Saturday afternoon at the Edgewood Bath & Tennis Club.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Berling defeated Gustavo Kerber, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1 singles to make it 4-0 in favor of the Penmen. He also combined with graduate student Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) for a 6-3 victory versus James Vincent and Anton Andersson at No. 1 doubles to clinch the doubles point.
- Torres breezed by Ivan Kolchanov, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 singles.
- Junior Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) was a 6-3, 6-0 winner against Josh Cronje at No. 2 singles. He also combined with sophomore Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) for a 6-1 victory against Cooper Smith and Niklas Langenfeld at No. 2 doubles.
- Nadeau turned back Smith, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.
NOTES
- Freshman Phillipp Roder (Augsburg, Germany) dropped a marathon third set at No. 6 singles versus Jose Nunez, 1-6, 6-3, 11-13.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Post, 6-1, with the Penmen winning three straight. SNHU also remains perfect on the road against the Eagles at 3-0.
