HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cole scored twice and Cronin handed out a pair of assists, as Southern New Hampshire seized a 4-0 lead over the opening 8:11. After Southern Connecticut broke the ice less than a minute later, Cronin scored with one second on the clock to make it 5-1 after one quarter of play.
  • SCSU flipped the script in the second, scoring five of the frame's seven goals to slash its deficit to 7-6 at the break.
  • The Owls kept it going early in the third, scoring twice in the opening 2:21 to take their first lead of the day at 8-7. It would prove to be their only lead, as SNHU scored five of the next six, including a pair from Renaud, to open some breathing room at 12-9 going to the final frame.
  • SCSU kicked off the scoring in the fourth, but the Penmen racked up three of the final four tallies, including two from Graziano, to cement the victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Junior Megan Petko (Monroe, N.Y.) came on in relief of Mollman and stopped four of the nine shots she faced in the second half.
  • Southern Connecticut goalie Caelan Connors made nine saves.
  • Sophomore Rachel McLaughlin (Woburn, Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist.
  • Junior Alexis DeLucia (Uncasville, Conn.), who recorded an assist, forced a pair of turnovers.
  • SCSU outshot SNHU, 28-25, including 12-5 in the second stanza.
  • The Penmen owned a 17-13 advantage in draw controls, while the Owls returned the favor in ground balls, 21-18.
  • SNHU went 7-for-10 on its free-position shots, while Southern Connecticut was 1-for-9.
  • SCSU was 19-for-21 on clear attempts, with SNHU going 15-for-18.
  • The Penmen had 20 of the game's 36 turnovers.
NOTES
  • SNHU, which is ranked 24th in the latest ILWomen/Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Poll, snapped a three-game losing streak that came against a trio of nationally-ranked opponents.
  • SNHU improves to 15-3 all-time against SCSU and has won three-in-a-row, including two straight in New Haven.
  • The Penmen are outscoring their 11 opponents this season, 161-114.

  • The Penmen are back in action Wednesday, April 12 at 4 p.m. when they hit the road to take on American International College.
