Mia Fischer (Hanover, Germany) tallied a late goal, but Southern New Hampshire Field Hockey opened the season with a 2-1 loss to Bloomsburg University Thursday on Larkin Field.

- Junior Annemartine Christis (s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands) had a penalty shot opportunity at 5:15 of the first quarter, but Husky goalie Jackie Nevel made the save in the left corner.
- Bloomsburg scored the first goal of the contest at 21:21 when Emily Swineford tipped in a long pass from Bella Culp.
- Each side had one penalty corner in the first half. Bloomsburg had a 7-2 shot advantage.
- The Huskies made it 2-0 on a goal by Culp off a penalty corner with 2:46 to play.
- Fischer cleaned up a loose ball in front of the Bloomsburg net to cut the lead to 2-1 with 1:26 remaining.  Freshman Jade Hendriks (Huissen, Netherlands) and junior Carley Lovejoy (Kennebunk, Maine) both fired shots before Fischer scored.

- SNHU will play a non-conference game at #6 Assumption University next Wednesday. The Penmen will be back home for another non-conference game with Saint Michael's College on Saturday, September 9 at 2 p.m.
