SNHU opened the men's cross country season with a 2-3-5 finish to place second at the Shacklette Invitational at Saint Anselm College Saturday.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

• Sophomore Dillon Labonte (Lee, N.H.) was the top SNHU runner, finishing second in 27:33.5.
• Junior Carter Sylvester (Northwood, N.H.) wound up in third place in 28:27.7.
• Senior Kody Gagnon (Tolland, Conn.) also turned in a top-10 run, finishing fifth in 28:55.2.
• Sophomore Zak Laverdiere (Seekonk, Mass.) also scored for the Penmen with a run of 30:22.4, finishing 16th.
• Freshman Austin Thorp (Richmond, R.I.) turned in a 32:09.2 and a 24th place finish.

NOTES 

• Also competing for the Penmen was freshman Ryan Burgher (Brookline, N.H.), who finished in 32:25.0.
• Labonte (28:25.8) and Sylvester (28:49.8) both improved on their opening marks from one year ago.
• St. Michael's College (31) won the race, and host Saint Anselm College (50) finished third.
• Senior Noah Tarcena from the Purple Knights won the race in 27:20.5.
