Freshman Dajana Abadzic (Weinstadt, Germany) and senior Eleonora Guglielmetti (Novara, Italy) won at No. 2 to clinch the doubles point and stake the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team to a 1-0 lead, but Adelphi University scored a 5-2 victory Friday at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Abadzic and Guglielmetti pulled out a 7-6 (7-3) victory at No. 2 doubles against Sanne Selmer Gilje and Caterina Federici.
- Sophomore Alina Kupfer (Baldham, Germany) and graduate student Verena Weindl (Munich, Germany) downed Roisin Boyd and Katarina Liedbeck, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles.
- Freshman Nadia Alden (Edmond, Okla.) captured the only singles match for the Penmen to pull the hosts within 3-2 in the match, defeating Carolina Chaves, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 6.
NOTES
- The Penmen still lead the all-time series with Adelphi, 11-10, and have won four of the last six meetings. This is the Panthers' first win at SNHU since Sept. 22, 2019.
