Sophomore Alina Kupfer (Baldham, Germany) was one of four Penmen to win both their matches, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team made it two straight with a 6-1 road triumph over Bentley University on Thursday.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Kupfer breezed past Maria Mella, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 singles. She also combined with graduate student Verena Weindl (Munich, Germany) to double up Adriana Hiraldo and Mella, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles.
- Freshman Dajana Abadzic (Weinstadt, Germany) notched a 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) victory at No. 3 singles against Catalina Borrero. She also teamed with senior Eleonora Guglielmetti (Novara, Italy) for a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles versus Borrero and Remi LeSage.
- Guglielmetti made quick work of Libby Keefe at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
- Freshman Nadya Lyekontseva (Kyiv, Ukraine) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 4 singles against Anna Lang.
- Freshman Nadia Alden (Edmond, Okla.) defeated Hannah Gould, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 singles. She and junior Katelyn Nichols (Manchester, N.H.) earned the doubles point for the Penmen with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 over Keefe and Chloe Arsenault.
NOTES
- Weindl was leading Hiraldo, following a 7-5 win in the first set at No. 2 singles, but was forced to retire.
- The Penmen lead the all-time series with Bentley, 17-9, and have now won 16-in-a-row versus the Falcons. SNHU has also captured nine straight road meetings, with Bentley last winning on its home court April 23, 2009 (5-3).
