Graduate student Alessandra Peli (Brescia, Italy) posted a career-high 11 kills, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to the University of New Haven on Saturday afternoon at the Stan Spirou Field House.

KEY MOMENTS
- Southern New Hampshire jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the opening set and eventually led, 22-19, when a Pimenta kill, a Peli ace and a Di Valerio kill made up a 3-0 run that put the Penmen in front, 1-0, in the match.
- The second set was tied at 24-all when a New Haven block and a Grace Juergens kill evened the the score, 1-1.
- The Chargers led, 14-10, in the third stanza when they scored 11 of the next 16 points to take a 2-1 advantage in the match.
- The Penmen scored the first four points of the final frame, but trailed, 16-14, when a 6-1 burst from New Haven gave the visitors a 22-15 lead. SNHU would close to within 24-20, but an Amihan Johnson kill ended it for the Chargers.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Set scores were 19-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-20.
- Junior Carmen Bernardis (Trieste, Italy) posted six kills and three digs.
- Junior Elyeen Dias (Plymouth, Mass.) chipped in five digs.
- New Haven outhit SNHU in the final three sets, despite the Penmen holding a .237-.235 edge, overall.
- The Chargers owned a 9-3 advantage in aces, while SNHU returned the favor in blocks (7-3).
NOTES
- After beginning the season 5-1, Southern New Hampshire has lost six straight.
- SNHU falls to 4-2 at home this season and is 14-3 at the Field House over the last two years.
- New Haven leads the all-time series, 16-2, and has captured eight of the last nine after SNHU snapped a seven-match skid against the Chargers last season. UNH has also now won four-in-a-row at SNHU, with the last win for the Penmen on their home court coming Nov. 8, 2014 (3-0).

- The Penmen are back in action Tuesday, Oct. 3 (7 p.m.) when they travel to take on Saint Michael's College.
