Amante Scores, but Penmen fall to Greyhounds

First-Place Assumption Completes Sweep 5-1 Saturday

Senior Matt Amante (West Hempstead, N.Y.) gave SNHU an early lead, but the Penmen could not hold off first-place Assumption in a 5-1 loss Saturday night in Worcester.

KEY MOMENTS
  • The Penmen took a 1-0 lead at 17:27 of the first period on the goal by Amante.
  • Lynch sent the puck to Pomposelli, who then found Amante for the blast to put SNHU in front.
  • Assumption would dominate the second period, scoring three times on goals by Jimmy McDermott, Jonathan Surrette, and Leo Piandes.
  • Ronny Paragallo and Nathan Palumbo scored in the third for the Greyhounds.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • A relentless Greyhound attack saw freshman Sean Guerin (Chicago, Ill.) face 40 shots in the first two periods and a season-high 60 for the game.
  • Assumption goalie Callum Welch made 31 saves on 32 Penmen shots.
  • The Penmen went 0-for-5 on the power play while Assumption was 1-for-5. 
NOTES
  • Assumption completed the weekend sweep and extended its NE10 winning streak to nine games.
  • The Penmen still hold a 42-40-5 advantage in the all-time series.
  • Assumption's Paragallo leads the NE10 with 16 goals this season.
