Alex Rivera (Lowell, Mass.) tossed in 17 points, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team was handed a 77-67 defeat by the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday night at Nolan Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENTS
- Trailing by one nearly two minutes in, Southern New Hampshire ripped off an 11-2 run – with five points from Rivera – to take a 13-5 lead with 16:09 remaining. Saint Rose responded with a 25-7 blitz that jumped it in front, 30-20, with 4:30 to go. The Golden Knights would carry a 36-29 lead to the break.
- The margin was eight nearly seven minutes into the second half when an 18-5 flurry put the Penmen on top, 58-53, with 8:03 left. Santos and Rivera led five scorers with five points each during the stretch. The hosts would close the game on a 21-7 run to cement the win.

- Graduate student Matt Becht (Vienna, Va.) recorded eight points (3-7 FG, 2-6 3-FG), three rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.
- Junior Jordan Brathwaite (Silver Spring, Md.) notched three points (1-4 FG, 1-2 3-FG) and five boards.
- Sophomore Royce Williams (Manchester, N.H.) chipped in three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3-FG), two rebounds and a pair of steals in 10 minutes.
- Southern New Hampshire narrowly outshot Saint Rose, 44.8 percent (26-58) to 44.1 percent (26-59), including 35.7 percent (10-28) to 35 percent (7-20) from long distance.
- The Golden Knights were plus-13 at the line and shot it better, 90 percent (18-20) to 83.3 percent (5-6).
- The Penmen won the glass (35-31) and scored more points on the fast break (10-7), while the Golden Knights captured the paint (28-26), scored more points off turnovers (23-7) and second chance points (8-7), received more scoring from their bench (21-14) and produced a more impressive assist-to-turnover ratio (14/8-13/15).
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has won 10 of its last 14, but has also dropped three of five.
- SNHU, which leads the all-time series, 24-18, has won 11 of the last 15 meetings against the Golden Knights, though Saint Rose has now captured three of four. Saint Rose has also won four of five, including three-in-a-row, at home. The last time the Penmen won in Albany was Jan. 25, 2020 (92-80).
- Grant's double-double is the first of his career.
- After scoring 10 total points through the first three games of the year, Santos is averaging 10.6 ppg over his last nine and has scored in double figures six times.
