Amante's Two Goals Lead Penmen To Season Sweep of Post, 6-1

Senior Matt Amante (West Hempstead, N.Y.) scored twice and added three assists as SNHU completed a season sweep of Post University with a 6-1 win on Saturday at The Ice Den Arena.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS KEY MOMENTS
  • The Penmen took a 1-0 lead at 12:30 of the first period on Murray's goal, his first of the season, and first of his career.  Pomposelli passed from behind the net for a short blast from Murray.
  • Marchant made it 2-0 Penmen 90 seconds later when he potted a rebound off a shot from freshman Coleman Nee (Arlington, Mass.).
  • Lynch picked up his third goal of the week with a power-play marker midway through the second period to make it 3-0.
  • Post took advantage of a 5-on-3 power-play to cut the lead to 3-1 on a goal by Cameron Craig at 16:01 of the second period.
  • SNHU found the three times in the final period with Amante tallying a pair of power-play goals to make it 5-1.
  • Twardosky scored in the closing minute, his fifth of the season.  Amante and freshman Nic Dallaire (Waltham, Mass.) had the assists.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Guerin earned his first win since defeating Post on December 9.   He has four wins on the season.
  • SNHU had a 33-29 advantage on shots on goal
  • The Penmen notched a season-high three power-play goals on its eight opportunities.  Post went 1-for-7.
NOTES
  • The goal for Lynch was his seventh of the season to lead the team.
  • Pomposelli leads the Penmen with 17 points on five goals and 12 assists.
  • Amante recorded his fourth two-goal game in a Penmen uniform while setting a new high with five points. 
  • The five-point game was the first for the Penmen since George Thurston did it on November 19, 2021.
  • The Penmen finish 4-0-0 against Post this season, and now lead the all-time series with the Eagles 18-5-0.

  • The Penmen will play at Saint Michael's College next Friday (1/26) and Saturday (1/27).
  • SNHU will return home to play Franklin Pierce University the following weekend.
