Hockey Falls 4-1 To Nichols at Boston Landing Tournament

Freshman Stone Devlin (W. Falmouth, Mass.) tallied late in the second period, but SNHU Ice Hockey dropped a 4-1 decision to Nichols College in the first round of the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational Saturday at Warrior Arena.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Nichols took a 1-0 lead just 2:04 into the contest on a goal by Nathan Carl.
  • The Bisons extended the lead with a power-play goal at 16:47 of the second period.
  • The SNHU goal came at 19:30 of the second period when Devlin was able to smack a rebound into the net. 
  • Third-period goals by CJ Zezima and Quinn McCarthy gave the Bison a 4-1 lead.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • SNHU outshot Nichols 40-21.
  • The Penmen were 1-for-5 on the power play and Nichols was 1-for-2.
  • Nichols had a 34-31 advantage on face-offs.
  • Tyler Bost made 39 saves to earn the win for the Bison.
NOTES
  • The Penmen were playing for the first time since Dec. 9 when they won at Post.
  • Devlin's goal was his second of the season.  He scored his first goal against Saint Anselm on December 2.
  • SNHU is 0-5-1 in the last six meetings with Nichols, but the Penmen lead the all-time series 10-5-4.
UP NEXT
  • The Penmen will play in the consolation game on Sunday at 5:40 p.m. against Wentworth Institute of Technology, which dropped a 5-3 decision to Tufts.
  • The next home contest will be on Wednesday, Jan. 10 against SUNY/Potsdam at 7:40 p.m. at the Ice Den.
