Junior Iago Perez (A Coruña, Spain) converted off a pass from sophomore Martin Zapata (Pamplona, Spain) to lift the 22nd-ranked Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team to a 2-1 win at the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday afternoon. It is the second consecutive game-winning goal for Perez.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Bridgeport scored just 1:16 into the contest on a goal by Lapo Romieri, his fifth of the season for the Purple Knights.
  • The Penmen evened the score at 11:00 on a strike off the right foot of Herrmann.  Gonzalez earned the assist with a perfect pass that led Herrman into the middle of the field.
  • On the game-winning play, Zapata collected a clear attempt in the Bridgeport zone and connected with Perez, who had worked to the back side of the defense.

  • Deyarmin made four saves for SNHU, while UB 'keeper Gianny Provincial stopped three shots.
  • The Penmen had a 12-11 shot advantage, with both teams recording five shots on goal.
  • SNHU had six corner kicks and Bridgeport had three.

  • The Penmen lead the all-time series with the Purple Knights, 20-7-2, while SNHU is unbeaten in the last seven meetings with Bridgeport.
  • The Penmen debuted in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 poll this week at No. 22.

  • Deyarmin ended a string of 16 consecutive starts in net for senior Preston Neal (Windham, N.H.). Neal's 0.33 goals-against average (GAA) is tops in the NE10 and tied for third, nationally, among Division II athletes.
  • Perez has scored goals in each of the three games he has played in this season.
  • Herrmann leads the Penmen with four goals scored and Zapata is the top scorer with 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists).
  • SNHU is 137-38-24 (.749) over its last 199 matches dating back to the beginning of the 2013 National Championship season.
