#6 Assumption Holds Off #4 SNHU 1-0 In Battle of NE10 Unbeatens

Peeters Makes 10 Saves for Penmen in Worcester Wednesday

Junior Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) made 10 saves, but #6 Assumption won a battle of Northeast-10 Conference unbeatens 1-0 over #4 SNHU on Wednesday night in Worcester.

KEY MOMENTS
  • The Penmen put three shots on goal in the first quarter but failed to score.
  • Assumption took a 1-0 lead early in the second quarter on a goal by Mia Salah, who had collected a pass in front of the Penmen cage.
  • Peeters came up big for SNHU in the third quarter, making four saves to keep the score 1-0 in favor of the Greyhounds through 45 minutes.
  • The Penmen did generate two shots on goal in the fourth quarter and Assumption's Paige Gillette saved both.

  • Assumption had an 18-8 shot advantage including 11-5 on goal.
  • The Greyhounds had eight penalty corners and the Penmen had five.
NOTES
  • The Penmen had won ten in a row, the longest win streak since 2019 when they won 11 straight.
  • SNHU moved into a tie for fourth in Tuesday's NFHCA (Field Hockey Coaches) poll, the highest ranking in program history.
  • Assumption leads the all-time series 11-3.  SNHU won a non-conference game with the Greyhounds on Larkin Field 3-0 on September 16.
  • The Greyhounds have won 10 consecutive games since losing a non-conference match to Bentley University on September 19.
  • Both Penmen losses this season have come to Final Four teams from the 2023 Division II Field Hockey Championship (SNHU lost to Kutztown earlier this season).
  • Junior Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) has allowed just two goals in her last seven starts (420 minutes) and her goals-against average is 0.90.
