Dillon Labonte (Lee, N.H.) finished third at the 2024 Northeast-10 Men's Cross Country Championship and the Penmen finished sixth on Sunday at the Hopkinton (N.H.) Fair Grounds.
SNHU RUNNERS
- Labonte finished in 25:03.6, less than four seconds off the winning time, to earn him First-Team All-Conference by finishing in the top seven. He had made the Second-Team last season.
- Sophomore Eric Sekyaya (Burlington, Mass.) was 19th overall in 26:18.4 to earn Third Team All-Conference.
- Senior Carter Sylvester (Northwood, N.H.) – finished 30th in 26:41.1
- Junior Collins Kibet (Iten, Kenya) – 34th place in 26:52.7, a new personal best
- Sophomore Austin Thorp (Richmond, R.I.) – 27:48.8 (new PR) in 69th place
- Sophomore Brett Trainor (North Chelmsford, Mass.) - 28:54.9 in 88th place
NOTES
- Southern Connecticut (27) won its third consecutive NE10 Men's Cross Country Championship and fourth overall. The Owls had seven runners who finished in the top 14. Assumption University (115) and Bentley (115) tied for second. Franklin Pierce was fourth (117) and Adelphi (121) also finished ahead of the Penmen (139).
- The Owls had the top two finishers in the race – Owen Gagne (25:00.5) and William Lamburn (25:02.7).
- The race was contested for the third time at Hopkinton and hosted by Franklin Pierce University. The race was also held there in 2014 and 2018.
- Labonte's time matched the seventh-best in program history at 8k.
- The Penmen earn two Queen City Cup points by finishing ahead of Saint Anselm.
- Labonte also earned the prestigious NE10 Elite 24 award for the top grade point average among athletes competing at the Championship.

- The Penmen will compete in the NCAA East Regionals in Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday, November 9. The men's race is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
