Sophomore Elsa Gilmore (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) had five kills, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team opened NE10 play with a 3-0 loss to Bentley University on Friday evening at the Stan Spirou Field House.
KEY MOMENTS
- Bentley jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the opening set, before Southern New Hampshire notched seven of the next 10 points, including a pair of kills from sophomore Daya Jean-Baptiste (Miami, Fla.), to climb back within 15-11. The Falcons, however, would score eight of the final 10 to go up, 1-0, in the match.
- The visitors built another early advantage in the second, going in front 10-3. SNHU again responded with eight of the next 11, including two kills each from senior Deanne Wilson (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Gilmore, to make it 13-11. The Penmen were within 19-18 late in the set, but Bentley rattled off six of the final nine to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Trailing 15-10 in the third, SNHU ripped off an 8-2 run that put it into the lead at 18-17. The teams traded 4-0 spurts that left the Penmen with a 22-21 edge, but another 4-0 Bentley run ended it.

- Gilmore produced five kills.
- Jean-Baptiste recorded four kills and a pair of blocks.
- Wilson generated four kills and a team-high 13 digs.
- Junior Caelan Cook (Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.) tallied three kills, an ace, a block and a dig.
- Senior Julia Cavalcanti (Vineyard, Utah) registered a pair of kills, three aces, two blocks and two digs.
- Senior Eyleen Dias (Plymouth, Mass.) collected nine digs and an ace.
- Junior Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) dished 16 assists, to go with an ace and four digs.
- Bentley outhit SNHU in all three sets, including .222- -.032, overall.
- The Falcons owned advantages in aces (9-8) and blocks (10-4).
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has lost four of the last five matches.
- Bentley leads the all-time series, 27-5, and has won seven of the last eight meetings, including four straight. The Falcons have also won three-in-a-row at SNHU, last losing there Oct. 9, 2018 (3-0).
