#6 Field Hockey Improves To 5-0 in NE10 With Win Over Mercy

Christis Scores Hat Trick In Saturday's 8-0 Win

Senior Annemartine Christis ('s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands) recorded a hat trick and dished out two assists as #6 SNHU Field Hockey topped Mercy University 8-0 on Saturday afternoon.   The win was the sixth straight for the Penmen, who improve to 5-0 in the Northeast-10.

  • Sophomore Zoe Demers (Manchester, N.H.) – 1 goal, 1 assist
  • Junior Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) – 2 saves, shutout
 
KEY MOMENTS
 
  • Senior Carley Lovejoy (Kennebunk, Maine) kicked off the scoring in the second quarter when she converted a rebound off a shot from Christis with 2:37 left in the half.
  • Senior Eliza Bates (Newport, N.H.) scored 22 seconds later assisted by Christis.
  • Christis notched her first goal, making it 3-0 with 8:07 to go in third.
  • Demers cashed in her second goal of the season off a feed from Christis with 5:40 left in the third quarter.
  • Christis tallied her 16th goal of the season, setting a new single-season record for the Penmen, 32 seconds into the fourth quarter. Demers picked up the assist.
  • Sophomore Abby Forbes (Boscawen, N.H.) recorded her first career goal with 10:33 to go. The assist came from sophomore Amelia Crocombe (Somerset, England).
  • Christis finished the hat trick with a reverse chip to put the Penmen up by seven with 1:34 left in the contest.
  • Freshman Jessica Bevins (Pelham, N.H.) capped off the scoring with 41 seconds remaining, assisted by junior Anne Wiersma (Veldhoven, Netherlands).
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Penmen had a 39-7 shot advantage over the Mavericks. 27 of SNHU's shots were on the net, while Mercy had three shots on goal.
  • SNHU took nine penalty corners while Mercy had five.
  • Both teams had one defensive save. Eunice Santiago had the save for the Mavericks, while graduate student Hannah Dobecki (Scarborough, Maine) had the save for the Penmen.
NOTES
  • Christis has now scored at least two goals in eight of the nine SNHU games this season.
  • Her eight-point effort tied a career-best that was set on October 1st against Saint Michael's College.
  • Christis now leads in single-season goals for the Penmen, breaking a record previously shared by Laura van der Doorn and Helene Servais.
  • Christis moves up to second in single-season points for SNHU with 41. She only has Helene Servais ahead of her, who tallied 42 points in 2019.
  • Peeters now has four shutouts in 2024 and nine for her career (in 39 starts).
  • The goals by both Forbes and Bevins were the first of their careers.
  • The Penmen lead the all-time series with Mercy 6-1, winning six straight versus the Mavericks.
