Peeters Records Third Consecutive Shutout for 9-1 SNHU

Senior Annemartine Christis ('s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands) scored off a penalty corner with 5:07 to play in the second overtime to lift #6 SNHU Field Hockey to a 1-0 win at #10 Saint Anselm College on Wednesday night at Grappone Stadium.

  • Junior Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) – 8 saves
KEY MOMENTS
  • The teams battled through a scoreless first half, although the Hawks generated six shots on Peeters. 
  • Christis had the only shot on goal for SNHU in the first half just 2:41 into the game.  Her back-handed shot was saved by Hawk goalie Sidney Falterer.
  • There were seven penalty corners in the first half, all for the Hawks.
  • Both teams had chances in the third quarter as the action picked up.  Bates had two shots on goal, Christis had one for the Penmen, and Peeters made another strong save late in the quarter.
  • Each team had one shot on goal in the fourth quarter, but the game remained tied.
  • SNHU survived three more penalty corners, and a card in the first overtime.
  • The Penmen, taking a corner for the first time in the game, scored the winning goal.
  • Bates inserted to the top of the circle to Christis and her shot found the lower right corner of the cage.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Hawks outshot the Penmen for the game 15-7 including 8-6 on net.
  • Saint Anselm took 12 penalty corners to just one for SNHU. 
NOTES
  • Christis has now scored goals in nine of ten SNHU games this season and leads the nation with 18 goals.
  • Christis has now established a new single-season scoring record for the Penmen with 43 points (18 goals, 7 assists).
  • Peeters now has five shutouts in 2024, including three straight contests.
  • The Hawks lead the all-time series 16-2, although SNHU has won the last two.  The win at Saint Anselm was a first in program history and earned two Queen City Cup points for the Penmen.
  • SNHU remained sixth in this week's NFHCA Division II poll with the Hawks debuting in the poll at ten.
