Back-to-Back Brilliance: Goalie Records Second Consecutive Shutout

Berke Stops 36 Shots In 4-0 Ice Hockey Win over Post Saturday

Sophomore Collin Berke (Crofton, Md.) made 36 saves in recording a second consecutive shutout as Men's Ice Hockey blanked Post 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. 
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS  KEY MOMENTS
 
  • Marchant scored the only goal of the first period.  Lynch won a face-off.  Sophomore Stone Devlin (W. Falmouth, Mass.) picked the puck off the boards, skating behind the net, and feeding Marchant.
  • The Penmen took a 2-0 lead in the closing minutes of the second period.  Gray flipped the puck to Pomposelli, whose shot rebounded in front for an easy goal for Clear.
  • Watson notched a power-play goal 6:04 into the third period.  Freshman Ryan Kayser (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) sent the puck to Lynch who connected with Watson with a cross-ice pass.
  • Pomposelli scored the game's final goal midway through the third period.  Clear and Gray had the assists.

  • The Penmen had a 37-36 edge shots on goal.
  • The Penmen went 1-for-7 on the power-play and the Eagles were 0-for-5.
NOTES
  • Berke recorded his third career shutout, all against Post.
  • Berke has a scoreless string of just over 137 minutes.
  • SNHU records back-to-back shutouts for the first time since beating Franklin Pierce and tying Suffolk University, February 21-23, 2004.
  • The Penmen have scored a power-play goal in seven of the eight games this season.  SNHU has only allowed two power-play goals on 29 opponent man-up opportunities.
  • SNHU extends its win streak over Post to eight games and now leads the all-time series 21-5.

  • SNHU will meet Bowdoin and Colby next Saturday and Sunday in Maine.
  • The next home game will be Friday, December 6 (7:40 p.m.) against Franklin Pierce University.  The Penmen have scheduled the annual Teddy Bear Toss for that evening.
