Brendan Lynch Tallies But Ice Hockey Falls To Colby College

Penmen Drop 7-1 Decision to Mules on Sunday in Maine

Score:  Colby College 7, Southern New Hampshire University 1
Records: SNHU 4-6-0 (3-3-0 NE10), Colby 4-1-1 (2-1-0 NESCAC)

Junior Brendan Lynch (Nepean, Ont.) tallied a power-play goal, but Southern New Hampshire fell 7-1 to Colby College on Sunday in a contest played in Brunswick, Maine. 

STANDOUT PERFORMERS  KEY MOMENTS
  • The Mules opened the scoring at 2:53 of the first period on a one-timer by Reese Farrell. 
  • Colby added goals by Massimo Gentile and Bobby Landry to build a 3-0 lead.
  • Landry's second goal of the game at 14:24 of the second period made it 4-0.
  • The Penmen finally would cash in on an extra-man opportunity at 15:16 of the second period on the goal by Lynch.
  • Lynch found the puck in a crowded crease in front of the Mule cage and pushed it home to cut the lead to 4-1.
  • Colby added goals by Connor Gallagher, Nick Stapleton, and Kevin McElaney to finish off the scoring.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Colby had a 31-16 shot advantage for the contest.
  • The Penmen went 1-for-3 on the power-play and the Polar Bears connected on its only chance.
  • Cooper Rautenstrauch made 15 saves for Colby.
  • Sophomore Sean Guerin (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Collin Berke (Crofton, Md.) both saw time in the net for the Penmen.
NOTES
  • Lynch scored his third goal of the season and he leads the Penmen with 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists).  He has scored at least one point in seven of the ten games including the last four contests.
  • The Penmen have scored a power-play goal in nine of the ten games this season and have ten power-play goals to just three allowed.
  • Colby has won all three meetings with SNHU.  The teams first met in the 2019-20 season and all of the games have been played in Maine.

  • The Penmen return home to The Ice Den Arena to take on Franklin Pierce University next Friday and Saturday.  The Friday (12/6) game will be at 7:40 p.m. The Penmen have scheduled the annual Teddy Bear Toss for that evening.
