Penmen Fall in Double Overtime In Season Opener

Ryan Lynch Scores Four, but Molloy Hands SNHU 11-10 Setback

Freshman Ryan Lynch (Derry, N.H.) scored four times in his first collegiate game, but SNHU felt heartbreak Saturday afternoon with an 11-10 double overtime loss to Molloy University.

KEY MOMENTS
  • The Penmen dominated the first quarter after Molloy's Justin Palulis had given the Lions a 1-0 lead.
  • Three goals by Lynch in the first period helped the Penmen take a 6-1 lead – and the lead was 7-1 after Robinson tallied early in the second quarter.
  • Molloy scored twice, but Antonetti tallied with less than one second to play in the half as the Penmen hit the locker room up 8-3.
  • Molloy opened the second half with four goals and trailed 8-7 with 10:02 to play in the contest on Chris Delaney's third score of the contest.
  • Goals by Antonetti and Lynch put the Penmen up 10-7, only to have Molloy score three goals in the final 3:11 to tie.
  • Mikey Rodin scored the game-winner with 26 seconds left in the second overtime after the Penmen were penalized for offsides.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Senior Jack Terrones (Anaheim, Calif.) scored a goal for the Penmen.
  • SNHU had a 51-47 shot advantage and a 28-21 edge on ground balls.
  • SNHU was successful on 18 of 22 clears.  Molloy was 20 for 22.
  • The Penmen had 18 turnovers to 9 for Molloy.
  • Three of the goals scored by the Lions were man-up goals.
NOTES
  • SNHU falls to 5-12 all-time against Molloy.  The Penmen had won two straight against the Lions including 11-10 at Rockville Centre last season.
  • With two assists, Auger reaches 100 career points.  Terrones is sitting on 99 career points.
