SNHU's Berke Makes 46 Saves as Marchant Scores Game-Winner

Freshman Anthony Marchant (Norwood, Mass.) broke a tie with a goal late in the second period and freshman Collin Berke (Crofton, Md.) made a career-high 46 saves as SNHU skated to a 2-1 win at Saint Anselm Friday night.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Neither team found the net in the first period.  Saint Anselm had a 9-4 shot advantage and the only power-play.
  • Watson made it 1-0 SNHU at 4:47 of the second period after Gray stole the puck near the Hawk net.
  • Luke Mix tied the game for the Hawks with a slap shot at 16:06.
  • The Penmen quickly responded to move back in front just 23 seconds later. 
  • Marchant scored the game-winning goal with a tip of a Rodriguez shot after coming up with a takeaway in the Saint Anselm zone.   Devlin also earned an assist.
  • Berke was the story of the third period, making 17 saves including five in the final 90 seconds of the game.

  • The Penmen hold second place in the Northeast-10 with three games remaining in the regular season.  SNHU is four points ahead of Franklin Pierce and Saint Michael's.  Assumption is the regular season champion.
  • SNHU has won six of its last seven games.

  • The final meeting of the regular season, which will decide Queen City Cup points, will take place on Saturday (2/10) at Sullivan Arena.  The game is slated to start at 4 p.m.
