Graziano Scores Four Goals for SNHU in 16-8 Loss to #1 Pace

Graduate student Angelia Graziano (Riverhead, N.Y.) had a four-goal game, but SNHU fell at top-ranked Pace University 16-8 in women's lacrosse action Saturday in Pleasantville, N.Y.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Angelina Porcello opened the scoring for the Setters at 11:46 of the first quarter
  • SNHU scored consecutive goals by Graziano and Cole to take a 2-1 lead.
  • First Graziano scored off a pass from Cole.  The Penmen won the draw, and Cole scored for a 2-1 lead.
  • Pace scored the next four goals to open a 5-2 lead before DeLucia tallied a free position shot to make the score 5-3.
  • Pace led 10-3 at the half and extended the margin to 12-3 before McLaughlin scored off a pass from Graziano.
  • McLaughlin scored again with 3:40 to play in the third quarter.
  • SNHU finished with three consecutive goals by Graziano to close the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • NE10 leading goal scorers Maddie Schubert (7 goals) and Porcello (3 goals) lead Pace in the game.
  • Pace had a 39-19 shot advantage and finished 23-16 on ground balls.
  • The Setters had 15 draw controls to 12 for the Penmen
  • Pace went 30-for-33 on its clear attempts and SNHU was 17-for-19.
  • The Setters converted 4-of-8 free position shots – SNHU was 1-for-3.
  • Freshman Nicole Mirra (Cicero, N.Y.) and senior Megan Petko (Monroe, N.Y.) each played a half in goal for the Penmen.  Mirra made six saves and Petko had seven.
NOTES
  • Graziano has now scored at least three goals in six of the eight games this season.
  • SNHU's 2-1 lead marked only the second time this season undefeated Pace has trailed in a game.
  • Pace leads the all-time series 7-2 with seven consecutive wins.
  • DeLucia's 2 draw controls give her 278 for her career, 22 off the program record.
