HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern Connecticut scored the first two goals of the game 29 seconds apart to take a 2-0 lead at the 11:31 mark of the opening quarter. Southern New Hampshire responded with six of the next seven, including three straight, to open a 6-3 advantage with 5:22 left in the quarter. Graziano scored three times and added an assist during the stretch, while Hadden recorded a goal and two assists. SCSU scored to pull within 6-4 at the end of one.
- The Owls found the back of the net 36 seconds into the second stanza to make it a one-goal game, but SNHU tallied up nine of the next 10 to open a commanding 15-6 advantage with 4:00 on the clock in the first half. Hadden led the way with three goals and an assist during the span, while Cole contributed two goals and two assists. The Owls made it a 15-7 game going to the break.
- Hadden used a personal 3-1 run to open the second half and give the Penmen an 18-8 lead with 10:30 remaining, but SCSU responded with a 3-1 burst of its own to trim its deficit to 19-11 at the end of three quarters.
- SNHU all but put it away to begin the final frame, scoring three straight to extend its lead to 22-11 with 10:56 left.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- SCSU goalkeeper Caelan Connors made 19 saves.
- Freshman Eliana Anderson (Danvers, Mass.) tallied a goal, an assist and a ground ball.
- Southern New Hampshire outshot Southern Connecticut, 52-31, including 29-15 in the opening half.
- SNHU dominated in draw controls (30-8), while SCSU held an advantage in ground balls (23-16).
- The Penmen were 14-for-15 on their clear attempts, with the Owls going a perfect 20-for-20.
- SNHU was 2-for-6 on its free-position attempts, while SCSU went 4-for-8.
- The Penmen had nine of the game's 17 turnovers.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has won three of its last five.
- SNHU improves to 16-3 all-time against SCSU and has won four-in-a-row. The Penmen have also captured eight of nine, including two straight, at home against the Owls.
- Graziano (203) and (200) Cole became the seventh and eighth respective members of the program to reach 200 career points.
- Hadden ranks second in the NE10 in points and third in goals, while Graziano is fifth in goals.
- Graziano has now scored at least three goals in seven of the nine games this season.
- DeLucia broke the old draw control record of 15 that she set March 10 at the University of New Haven.
- DeLucia's 16 draw controls give her 294 for her career, six off the program record.
