HOW IT HAPPENED
- DeLucia set up the game's first goal by Renaud just 3:20 in and then scored her own 1:38 later to stake Southern New Hampshire to a 2-0 advantage. A Graziano strike would put the Penmen in front, 3-1, with 8:42 left in the opening quarter.
- Embry-Riddle scored four straight to end the frame, however, and then tallied the first three of the second stanza to seize an 8-3 advantage with 11:52 to go before halftime. SNHU roared back with four of the final five before the break to trim its deficit to 9-7. Hadden put up a pair of goals and an assist during the stretch, with Graziano adding a goal and a helper.
- The Graziano-Hadden duo set up two of the first three goals of the second half – one by senior Skylar Pietz (Dudley, Mass.) just 11 seconds in and another from McLaughlin a minute later – to pull the Penmen within 10-9. That would be as close as they would get, as the Eagles scored the final four of the third quarter to open up a 14-9 lead.
- SNHU did not go away, however, as it scored four of the first five goals in the final frame – with Hadden and Renaud each burying a pair – to climb back within 15-13 with 7:01 remaining. ERAU added one more less than a minute later and the final 6:17 of the contest would go scoreless.
