Senior Alexis DeLucia (Uncasville, Conn.) broke the program's all-time draw controls record that stood for 12 years, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team was handed a 22-14 loss by 18th-ranked Bentley University on Wednesday night at the Bentley Turf Field.
TOP PERFORMERS
  • DeLucia – 13 draw controls
  • Graduate student Katelyn Hadden (Newburyport, Mass.) – 5 goals, 1 assists, 1 ground ball, 6 draw controls
  • Graduate student Skylar Renaud (E. Waterboro, Maine) – 4 goals, 1 assists, 3 ground balls, 4 draw controls, 1 caused turnover
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A goal and an assist from Hadden guided Southern New Hampshire to an early 3-2 lead just 4:16 into the contest. Bentley, however, would score the final three goals of the opening quarter to grab a 5-3 advantage.
  • The Falcons would keep it going, posting the first three goals as part of a 7-1 second stanza that ballooned their lead to 12-4.
  • Renaud registered two of the first three goals of the second half to chip away at the deficit and pull the Penmen within 13-6 just 3:26 in. Bentley would respond with three straight, however, to extend the margin to an even 10 at 16-6 with 9:32 left in the third quarter. With the gap still 10 over six minutes later, SNHU ripped off four straight to end the stanza, including a pair from Hadden, and slash its deficit to 18-12.
  • After Bentley ripped off three straight to begin the final frame, the Penmen potted back-to-back goals to make it 21-14 with 3:37 left, but the Falcons would add one more.
