Graduate student Angelina Graziano (Riverhead, N.Y.) struck three times, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team was defeated by 21st-ranked Assumption University, 17-7, on Saturday afternoon at the Brian Kelly Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After Assumption opened the scoring at the 12:22 mark of the opening quarter, Southern New Hampshire responded just 19 seconds later when graduate student Katelyn Hadden (Newburyport, Mass.) scored off a feed from junior Rachel McLaughlin (Woburn, Mass.). The Greyhounds scored six of the final seven goals of the first quarter, including five straight, to break open a 7-2 advantage.
  • Assumption kicked off the second stanza with four straight, before grad student Skylar Renaud (E. Waterboro, Maine) found the back of the net to trim SNHU's halftime deficit to 11-3.
  • Graziano scored both third-quarter goals for the Penmen, but the Greyhounds struck four times to bring a 15-5 lead into the final frame.
  • Senior Shelby Cole (Gilford, N.H.) and Renaud scored two of the first three goals of the fourth, before Assumption capped the scoring with under two minutes left.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Senior Megan Petko (Monroe, N.Y.) stopped six of the 19 shots she faced, playing 46:19 over two stints in the game. Freshman Nicole Mirra (Cicero, N.Y.) made one save on five bids in 13:41 of action.
  • Assumption goalkeeper Skylar Toryan made 10 saves.
  • Renaud finished with two goals, a ground ball and a draw control.
  • Cole tallied a goal and an assist.
  • McLaughlin collected an assist and four ground balls.
  • Freshman Eliana Anderson (Danvers, Mass.) dished an assist and collected a ground ball.
  • Assumption outshot Southern New Hampshire, 35-26, including 14-8 in the first quarter.
  • Assumption held advantages in ground balls (15-12) and draw controls (14-12).
  • The Penmen were 10-for-14 on their clear attempts, with the Greyhounds going a perfect 14-for-14.
  • SNHU was 2-for-2 on its free-position attempts, while Assumption went 3-for-5.

  • Southern New Hampshire has dropped four of its last five – all to nationally-ranked foes.
