Dyrenson Wouters (Oranjestad, Aruba) collected three hits, drove in a pair of runs and scored three times, as the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team halved a doubleheader with the College of Saint Rose on Saturday at Penmen Field. The Penmen took game one, 5-2, before striking for four in the seventh, but falling, 6-5, in the second game.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
- Saint Rose jumped on the board first against Lendrum when James Ward launched a one-out solo shot to left.
- The Golden Knights pushed across an unearned run in the second on a sacrifice fly to left that doubled the lead to 2-0.
- Southern New Hampshire answered back in a big way in the home half. Wouters came through with a clutch, two-out RBI single to center, before sophomore Kyle Lavigne (Bedford, N.H.) stepped to the plate and hammered a two-run bomb to left-center that flipped SNHU into the lead at 3-2.
- Pisano gave the Penmen some breathing room when he led off the sixth with a solo homer to left.
- SNHU widened the gap further in the eighth when Wachter crushed a no-doubter to center that made it 5-2.
INSIDE THE BOX – GAME ONE
- Pisano finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, run scored and the home run.
- Wouters was 1-for-2 with an RBI, run, a walk and pair of steals.
- Wachter went 1-for-3 with an RBI, run, home run, walk and a steal.
- Lavigne (two RBI, run, home run), senior Anderson Moreno (Bronx, N.Y.; double, steal) and sophomore Frankie DeMaro (Newburgh, N.Y.) were all 1-for-4.
- Senior Jorge Burgos (Santo Domingo, D.R.) went 0-for-3, but scored a run and swiped three bases.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
- It was again Saint Rose reaching the scoreboard first, with an RBI single putting it up, 1-0, in the top of the first. The Golden Knights struck for two more in the third, taking advantage of an error and a wild pitch to make it 3-0.
- Southern New Hampshire scratched one across in the bottom half when Wouters led off with a double down the left field line, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a shallow sac fly to right by DeMaro.
- Saint Rose struck for three in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run double to left-center from Jack Griffin, to extend its lead to 6-1.
- SNHU began to mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, sending eight batters to the plate as it struck four times. The Penmen came alive after a two-run single from Watcher, while an RBI base knock by Wouters trimmed the deficit to 6-4. An RBI groundout made it a one-run game and moved the tying run to third with two outs, but a groundout ended it.
INSIDE THE BOX – GAME TWO
- Wouters went 2-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored, a double and two stolen bases.
- Wachter (two RBI, run, steal) and Piano (run) were both 1-for-3.
- Sophomore Austin Trumpour (Jensen Beach, Fla.) allowed six runs – five earned – on nine hits, while striking out three and walking a pair, over six innings. He was hit with his first loss of the season to fall to 6-1.
- Senior Griffin Gilbert (Concord, N.H.) struck out a pair and worked around a hit in a scoreless frame.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire, receiving votes in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Poll, has won 14 of its last 18, including seven of eight. The Penmen had won seven-in-a-row prior to the loss in game two.
- Lavigne's home run is his first of the season and fourth of his career.
- Pisano's long-ball was also his first of the year and the seventh of his career.
- Wachter's homer is the seventh of his rookie campaign.
- Junior Harry Vargas Segura (Bronx, N.Y.) had reached safely in 29 consecutive games before going 0-for-3 in game two.
- Wouters has four multi-hit performances in his last six games and is 11-for-23 (.478) at the plate during that stretch.
- Saint Rose leads the all-time series with SNHU, 28-26, but the Penmen have won 13 of 14. SNHU had won 13 straight before the loss in game two. That was the first win against SNHU for the Golden Knights since March 11, 2011 (8-7). SNHU had also captured six straight against Saint Rose at home, last losing there April 18, 2010 (11-2).
