Graduate student Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, Netherlands) put the match away with his win at No. 5 singles, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team defeated Bentley University, 6-1, Tuesday at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Ouwejan toppled Christian Duffy, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 5 singles.
- Junior Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway) pulled out a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles against Max Bonte.
- Senior Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles versus Gabe Horwitz. He also teamed with junior Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) for SNHU's lone doubles win at No. 1, as they doubled up Bonte and Duffy, 6-3.
- Nadeau rallied for a 0-6, 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 3 singles against Ansh Chadha.
- Sophomore Melvin Vix (Thionville, France) made quick work of Diego Ramos, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4 singles.
- Sophomore Phillipp Roeder (Aystetten, Germany) recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win over Liam Marr at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
- Berling and Ouwejan suffered a 7-6 (7-5) loss to Chadha and Ramos in the deciding doubles match at No. 3.
- Roeder and freshman Jaden Williams (Green Acres, Fla.) were also edged in a close doubles match by Horwitz and Marr, 7-5, at No. 2.
- Southern New Hampshire has won nine of its last 12, including four of five.
- SNHU leads all-time series, 16-15, and has won 16 of the last 17 meetings, including 13 straight. Bentley's last win in the series came at SNHU on April 15, 2015 (6-3). SNHU has also won eight-in-a-row at home versus the Falcons.
