HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
- Matthew Franco hit a solo home run in the second inning and Pace followed with three more runs in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth to open a commanding 7-0 lead.
- An RBI single from sophomore Jake Risedorf (Barkhamsted, Conn.) in the sixth finally put Southern New Hampshire on the board. Two more in the seventh on an RBI double from Vargas Segura and a run-scoring single by Wouters narrowed the gap, but SNHU would leave one on in the seventh, and then go in order in both the eighth and ninth.
INSIDE THE BOX – GAME ONE
- Wouters went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Sophomore Frankie DeMaro (Newburgh, N.Y.) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
- Risedorf finished 1-for-4 with an RBI.
- Vargas Segura went 1-for-5 with an RBI, run scored and a double.
- Sophomore Jake Pisano (Hamden, Conn.) finished 0-for-2, but walked twice and stole a base.
- Burgos and graduate student Jake Pierre (Holbrook, N.Y.) were each 0-for-1 with a walk.
- Sophomore Parker Lendrum (Exeter, N.H.) relinquished six runs on 12 hits over three-and-a-third innings, while recording a strikeout. It was the second time this season in 10 appearances that Lendrum (5-2) allowed at least five earned runs, but only the third time he has given up more than two. His ERA went from 2.94 to 3.78 following the outing.
- Graduate student Zachary Gitschier (Lowell, Mass.) allowed a hit and struck out a batter in two-thirds of an inning of work. He entered with one out and the bases loaded in the fourth. He struck out the first batter he faced, but then gave up a two-out, two-run single.
- Davis provided the Penmen with four innings out of the bullpen and kept the game where it was, limiting Pace to one run on three hits, while striking out four and walking a pair.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
- It was Southern New Hampshire that would propel out to an early lead, as a two-out RBI triple right-center in the first off the bat of Pisano made it 1-0.
- RBI singles in the third from Burgos and Wouters expanded the lead to 3-0, before an RBI double to right-center in the fifth brought the score to 4-0.
- It stayed that way, with sophomore Austin Trumpour (Jensen Beach, Fla.) limiting Pace to just one hit through five-and-two-thirds, into the sixth. After recording the first two outs, Trumpour allowed back-to-back singles, a two-run double that sliced the Penmen lead in half and an RBI double that made it a one-run game. Mason Baronian followed with a two-run homer to left that completed the five-run sixth and flipped Pace into the lead, 5-4.
- After two pop outs to begin the seventh, Wouters, Roldan and DeMaro all drew walks to load the bases, but a fly out to center ended it.
