Lynch, Auger Score Three Times Each as Penmen Push #4 Adelphi in 14-8 Loss

Tuesday's Contest Is Final Game of the Season for SNHU

Freshman Ryan Lynch (Derry, N.H.) and graduate student Ryan Auger (Hampstead, N.H.) each scored three goals but Men's Lacrosse saw its season come to an end with a 14-8 loss to #4 Adelphi University Tuesday afternoon.

  • Junior Christian Perez (Methuen, Mass.) – 1 goal
  • Graduate student Gennaro Marra (Hampstead, N.H.) – 13-for-26 face-offs, 11 ground balls
  • Graduate student Cam Cote (Saco, Maine) – 2 ground balls, 2 caused turnovers
  • Senior Ronan DePaul (Elkton, Md.) – 17 saves
KEY MOMENTS
  • Lynch put on a great move to score the game's first goal just 2:33 into the game.
  • The Penmen went back in front at 2-1 on a goal by Auger off a pass from Lynch at 8:01.
  • The Panthers closed the quarter with three consecutive scores to take a 4-2 lead.
  • SNHU played a terrific second quarter, holding Adelphi to just one goal. 
  • Auger scored twice and Lynch added a goal to put the Penmen up 5-4.
  • Logan Tucker tallied with just eight seconds left in the second to tie the game at 5-5.
  • A goal by Antonetti tied the game at 6-6 at 5:43 of the third.
  • Auger's third of the day put the Penmen up 7-6 at 9:08 after he collected a pass behind the net from Krutz.
  • The Panthers then went on a 6-0 run to take a 12-7 lead at 4:17 of the fourth quarter.
  • The final score of the game for SNHU went to junior Perez at 4:33 of the fourth.  Perez raced from the Penmen zone to the net for the goal.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Adelphi took 45 shots and the Penmen had 38.
  • The Panthers were 0-for-1 in extra-man opportunities, and the Penmen were 0-for-2.
  • Each team had 17 turnovers and went 1-for-4 in extra-man opportunities.
  • SNHU finished 20-of-24 on its clear attempts and Adelphi was 22-24.
  • Adelphi had a 37-35 ground ball advantage and the teams split the 26 face-offs.
NOTES
  • Adelphi improved to 15-0 all-time against the Penmen and finished the regular season with a 9-0 record.  The Panthers will be the top seed in the upcoming NE10 tournament.
  • The Penmen missed the tournament for the first time since 2019.
  • Lynch (31) and Auger (26) led the Penmen in goals scored.  Auger added 28 assists for a career-best 54 points. 
  • Auger's 81 career assists rank fourth in program history – and 152 points (over three seasons) rank him ninth-best.
  • Senior Jack Terrones (Anaheim, Calif.) finished his career with 95 goals and 24 assists for 119 points.
  • Marra finished 196-312, winning 62.8% of his face-offs.  The Penmen ranked seventh nationally in face-offs won.   He finished his career with 60.8% won, second-best all-time for SNHU.
  • Marra came up with 526 ground balls over his 53 career games, setting a new standard for the program.
