Senior Shelby Cole (Gilford, N.H.) set season highs in points and assists to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team to a 21-8 victory against the College of Saint Rose on Wednesday at Sullivan Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern New Hampshire set the tone with Cole scoring just 17 seconds into the game, as the Penmen scored the first 10 goals to get the game to a running clock with 1:07 left in the first quarter. Cole contributed three goals and two assists in the frame, while Graziano added three scores and a helper.
  • Hadden and Cole potted the first two goals of the second quarter to make it 12-0 just 3:11 in. Saint Rose scored two of the final three of the half to trim its halftime deficit to 13-2.
  • Cole and Renaud found the back of the net in the third quarter, but Saint Rose outscored SNHU, 3-2, in the stanza to pull within 15-5.
  • The Penmen scored three straight, with Cole assisting on two of them, to stretch their lead to 18-5 just 3:08 into the final frame. The Golden Knights scored three of the next four, but Anderson tacked on a pair in the final 2:10.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Freshman Nicole Mirra (Cicero, N.Y.) stopped three of the eight shots she faced in the initial 47:20, while senior goalkeeper Megan Petko (Monroe, N.Y.) allowed three goals over the final 12:40.
  • Saint Rose goalkeeper Dorothy Gaffney made nine saves.
  • Junior Skylar Pietz (Dudley Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist.
  • Junior Rachel McLaughlin (Woburn, Mass.) also scored a goal.
  • Southern New Hampshire outshot Saint Rose, 40-14, including 26-7 in the opening half.
  • SNHU owned advantages in ground balls (8-6) and draw controls (17-11).
  • The Penmen were 9-for-10 on their clear attempts, with the Golden Knights going 7-for-9.
  • SNHU was 4-for-5 on its free-position attempts, while Saint Rose went 1-for-5.
  • The Golden Knights had 10 of the game's 16 turnovers.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire has won four of its last six, including three straight, and is alone in seventh place in the NE10 standings. The top eight make the NE10 Championship.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series with Saint Rose, 3-0, including 2-0 in Albany.
  • Hadden leads the NE10 in points (77) and goals (52), while ranking ninth in assists (25).
  • Graziano is fourth in the league in goals (49) and sixth in points (66), while Cole is ninth in points (62) and eighth in assists (26). Renaud is also ninth in points (57).
  • Graziano moved past Carole Lee (2007-10; 150) for sole possession of fifth place on the program's all-time list goals list and now has 154. Cole also passed Lee to move into sixth place and is just behind with 152 goals.
  • Cole (75) also leapfrogged over Graziano (73) for fifth place on the program's all-time assists list and pulled even with Graziano on the all-time points list, as they are tied for fifth place with 227 points.
  • Senior Alexis DeLucia (Uncasville, Conn.), who had four draw controls in the contest, broke her own single-season program record for draw controls of 112 that she set last season.
  • On the single-season points list, Hadden moved past Kristin Wilder (2019; 74) and Libby Parent (2008; 76) and into seventh place with 77 points.
  • Hadden (52) and Cole (26) both jumped into ninth-place ties on the single-season goals and assists lists, respectively.

WHAT'S NEXT

  • The Penmen return to action Saturday, April 27 (12 p.m.) when they take on third-ranked Adelphi University.
  • The final regular-season home contest of the year is Tuesday, April 30 when SNHU plays host to Saint Michael's College at Ouellette Stadium.
