HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After Adelphi kicked off the scoring 3:13 into the contest, Southern New Hampshire went in front, 2-1, with 8:55 to play in the opening quarter, following back-to-back goals from Graziano. The Panthers scored two of the next three to tie it, 3-all, with 7:06 left, but strikes from Hadden and McLaughlin put the Penmen in front, 5-3, with 3:26 to go. Adelphi found the back of the net twice in the final 2:20 to pull even, 5-5, after one.
  • Adelphi grabbed the lead for good with two straight goals to open the second-quarter scoring and go up, 7-5, 3:03 in. After a Graziano goal sliced the SNHU deficit in half, the hosts scored three-in-a-row to make it 10-6 with 5:43 remaining in the first half. Renaud and Graziano would give the Penmen two of the final three goals to make it an 11-8 game at the break.
  • Hadden struck just 1:17 into the second half and Graziano answered an Adelphi goal to make it 12-10 with 9:20 left in the third, but the Panthers reeled off six of the next seven to break it open at 18-11 with 2:09 left. McLaughlin put one home for the Penmen with just 11 seconds left in the stanza to trim the deficit to 18-12.
  • After Adelphi grabbed it back 1:05 into the final frame, SNHU scored three straight to get within 19-15 with 5:47 to go. Cole had a goal and an assist during the run, while Hadden dished out a pair of helpers. Adelphi, however, scored the final two to seal it.
