Women's Lacrosse Rolls Into Playoffs off 23-6 Win over Saint Michael's

Graduate student Angelia Graziano (Riverhead, N.Y.) tallied six times to lead SNHU Women's Lacrosse to a 23-6 win over Saint Michael's College in the regular season finale Tuesday at Ouellette Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Penmen outscored the Purple Knights 8-3 in the first quarter with Graziano scoring the game's first goal at 1:19, and finishing the period with three markers.
  • Cole scored twice in the first including a goal with two seconds remaining.
  • The Penmen had a 6-1 advantage in the second quarter to lead 14-4 at the half.  Graziano and Cole each added two goals in the period.
  • Junior Nina Liquori (Agawam, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season off a takeaway early in the third quarter to make it 16-4.
  • Freshman Camdyn Swain (No. Falmouth, Mass.) scored her first career goal off a pass from freshman Natalie Bosselman (Falmouth, Mass.) with 3:52 to play in the third for an 18-4 lead.
  • Graziano scored her fifth, and Hadden finished up her hat trick with fourth-period goals.
  • Ginny Hamilton scored twice for the Purple Knights in the closing stanza.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Penmen had a 39-17 shot advantage and 15-12 on ground balls.
  • SNHU was 13-for-14 on its clears while the Purple Knights finished 8-for-13.
  • The Penmen converted 1-of-3 free-positions shots while Saint Michael's was 0-for-2.
  • DeLucia earned nine of the team's 18 draw controls.  Saint Michael's had 13 for the game.
  • Freshman Nicole Mirra (Cicero, N.Y.) and senior Megan Petko (Monroe, N.Y.) each played a half in goal for the Penmen.  Mirra made four saves and Petko had one.
NOTES
  • Graziano scored six goals for the second straight game, and third time this season.
  • Her six goals give her a career-best 61 on the season, and 166 for her career – currently fourth best in program history.
  • The Penmen improve to 18-3 all-time against Saint Michael's including wins in the last nine meetings.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen have clinched a spot in the NE10 Championship, which begins this coming Saturday.  SNHU will be on the road in the quarterfinal round.  The seeding and scheduling information will be available on Wednesday.
