Senior Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) pulled out a three-set win at No. 1 singles to lift the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over Assumption University on Monday afternoon at the Assumption Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- With the match tied at 3-all, Den Hartog outlasted Yannick Heitzberg, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, at No. 1 singles to give the Penmen the win. Den Hartog also teamed with junior Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) for SNHU's lone doubles win, as they edged Heitzberg and Jakob Bordt, 6-4, at No. 1.
- Nadeau was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at No. 3 singles against Adrian Toderascu.
- Graduate student Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, Netherlands) scored a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 victory against Luigi Bassani at No. 5 singles.
- Sophomore Phillipp Roeder (Aystetten, Germany) took down Bernardo Balancho, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has won eight of its last 10, including three straight.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Assumption, 15-3, and extends its winning streak against the Greyhounds to seven. The last Assumption win in the series came at SNHU on April 17, 2015 (6-3). The Penmen also remain undefeated at Assumption with a perfect 7-0 record.
