HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
  • DeMaro gave Southern New Hampshire a 1-0 lead in the top of the second with an RBI single up the middle.
  • A run-scoring base knock from Pisano brought in the first of two runs in the fifth to extend the SNHU lead to 3-0.
  • After the Penmen made it 5-0 in the seventh, Franklin Pierce pushed a pair across in the home half, capitalizing on an error to trim the deficit to 5-2.
  • SNHU answered in the eighth, with a two-run double to center by Pisano and a Burgos RBI single pushing the lead to 8-2.
  • The Penmen turned it over to the bullpen in the home half, but the Ravens scored three of their own to pull within 8-5. Risedorf, who entered with two on and no one out after senior Griffin Gilbert (Concord, N.H.) went home run-walk-walk to begin the inning, did allow the two inherited runners to score. He fired a perfect ninth, however, to nail down the save.
INSIDE THE BOX – GAME ONE
  • Pisano was a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, three runs scored, a double and a walk.
  • DeMaro finished 3-for-5 with an RBI.
  • Burgos went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
  • Sophomores Dyrenson Wouters (Oranjestad, Aruba; run, steal) and Kyle Lavigne (Bedford, N.H.) were both 1-for-4.
  • Risedorf was 1-for-5 with an RBI, run scored, double and a steal.
  • Freshman Nater Wachter (Concord, N.H.) finished 0-for-3, but walked, swiped a base and scored a pair of runs.
  • Junior Harry Vargas Segura (Bronx, N.Y.) was 0-for-4, but did draw a pair of walks and scored a run.
  • Gilbert was charged with three runs on one hit and two walks, as he did not retire any of the three batters he faced.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
  • Franklin Pierce struck first with a two-run single that made it 2-0 in the bottom of the first.
  • Southern New Hampshire sliced its deficit in half in the fourth when Wouters drew a leadoff walk and scored on base hit to right from Wachter.
  • SNHU went in front with a three-run sixth, highlighted by an RBI single from Burgos, that made it 4-2.
  • Risedorf added an RBI single in the eighth to tack on some insurance.
INSIDE THE BOX – GAME TWO
  • Burgos was 2-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base.

NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire, receiving votes in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II Poll, has won seven of its last eight.
  • SNHU clinches the NE10 Northeast Division for the seventh straight season (no division crown was awarded in 2020) and the eighth time, overall. It will win the division outright with a win Sunday against Franklin Pierce, while the Ravens can earn a share of the title with a victory. The Penmen would have the tiebreaker for the No. 1 seed, however, due to a 2-1 head-to-head record.
  • The Penmen had already earned an NE10 Championship first round home game Tuesday, May 7 (3:30 p,m.), but now know they will play host to Assumption University at Penmen Field. SNHU, with a win over the Greyhounds, would host NE10 Championship Weekend on Thursday-Saturday, May 9-11.
  • Southern New Hampshire now leads the all-time series with Franklin Pierce, 65-50-1, and has won 25 of the last 29 meetings with the Ravens, including 10 of 11 on the road.
  • Wachter had his six-game RBI streak snapped in game one, before collected an RBI in game two. He is tied for the RBI lead in the NE10 with 55 RBI.
  • Vargas Segura continues to pace the league with 39 steals, which ties him for the 11th most in a single season in NE10 history.
  • Vargas Segura snapped his 10-game hitting streak in game one.
  • Over his last three appearances, including two starts, Trumpour is 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA, allowing just eight hit, while striking out 15 and walking two, over 13 innings.
