HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern New Hampshire struck for three in the top of the first, including an RBI single to left from Pisano.
- Franklin Pierce scored one in the home half and tied it, 3-3, on a two-run home run in the third by Kiobel Lugo.
- Burgos put the Penmen on top, 4-3, in the fourth with a solo home run.
- The score stayed that way into the bottom of the seventh when Franklin Pierce capitalized on an error to score a pair of unearned runs that flipped it in front, 5-4.
- Sophomore Jake Risedorf (Barkhamsted, Conn.) began the ninth inning with a walk and then stole second, before back-to-back strikeouts pushed the Penmen to the brink. A pinch-hit walk to grad student Jaime Roldan (Boston, Mass.) put the tying run in scoring position for Vargas Segura, who came through with a single through the right side that tied the game. Wouters followed with an RBI base hit to right that gave SNHU a 6-5 lead.
- DeMaro came on and fired a 1-2-3 ninth.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Risedorf (run, walk two steals) and freshman Joel Valera (Boston, Mass.) were both 1-for-3.
- Freshman Nater Wachter (Concord, N.H.) finished 0-for-3, with an RBI, run, two walks and a steal.
